Mango Season has arrived!

In Florida, you can always tell its summer when the Mangos start flowing. In fact if you don’t own a Mango tree, chances are you know someone who does. This fruit tree is so plentiful that people usually give mangos away like they do zucchinis up north (it is a thing we promise you).

We do not have a tree but we are blessed with wonderful neighbors and customers who do. We are very grateful that they think of us and we put every bit of them to use. Our favorite way to use them is for Mango smoothies! They are a refreshing pick me up during these hot summer days.

We do our best to use them fresh but sometimes we receive an abundance. Since we don’t like anything to go to waste, we often freeze dry the rest. Many people really like the freeze dried Mangos and we have split the loads with people in exchange for us running the machine. If you are not familiar with the freeze drying process, you can read about it here. It is a great way to preserve food long term and useful when we have a bountiful harvest. We do offer the Freeze Dried Mangos on our site for those of you who would like to give them a try. They are best eaten as a snack with lots and lots of water!
